Ham Steak with Apple Barbecue Sauce

1 (1-lb.) fully cooked center-cut ham steak (½ inch thick), trimmed of fat

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

2 Tbsp. apple jelly

1/4 tsp. ginger

1.  Spray large nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray.  Heat over medium-high heat until hot.  Add ham; cook until lightly browned on both sides.  Drain and discard pan drippings.

2.  In small bowl, combine barbecue sauce, jelly and ginger; mix well.  Spoon mixture over ham; turn to coat.  Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and cook 3 to 5 minutes or until ham is glazed and thoroughly heated (4 servings).

*Barbecue sauce varies both in flavor and color.  For the prettiest glaze, use a light-colored sauce.

*Slices of cooked ham can be used in place of the ham steak.  Slice the ham ½-inch thick and follow the recipe as directed.

*Sprinkle the glazed ham steak with chopped fresh chives.

*Add any leftover ham to scalloped potatoes.
